Orgasms Are Really Good For You: Ten More Reasons You Should Be Having More Sex Now!
By Tracy Kristalakis
It's a given that sex feels greats. That alone is enough reason to be actively orgasmic. Researchers are finding more and more evidence that orgasms are great for other reasons, too. (Did you really need convincing?)
- Orgasms are a great way to deal with stress.
Stress releases biochemicals which over the long term can have damaging effects on your body and lead to premature death. The biochemicals released from sex counteract the negative effects of stress.
- Orgasms are a great sleeping pill.
Orgasms cause a surge in the biochemicals that act as a sedative. They help you fall asleep and stay asleep. It's not really a coincidence that men fall asleep so quickly after sex.
- Orgasms can relieve a migraine headache.
“Not tonight, dear, I have a headache” is no longer an acceptable excuse. Although not as reliable as prescription medications, it's a bit more fun and has all these other benefits as well. You surely can't get that from a pill.
- Orgasms can reduce the risk of prostate cancer in men.
The more that men ejaculate the less likely they are to develop prostate cancer. A study even found that men in their twenties can reduce their risk by one-third if they ejaculate five or more times a week. Luckily they have the energy and stamina to do it.
- Orgasms act as anti-depressants.
Since 1987, fifty-four million people worldwide have been prescribed Prozac. Without having to worry about side effects, orgasms also work to have more of the same pleasure inducing brain chemicals available as Prozac and other anti-depressants.
- Orgasms and sex play are a great form of exercise.
We've probably all heard about how unfit the American population is. A large part of that is due to poor exercise habits. Studies have shown that orgasm and sex play burn off the calories equal to a sprint. Forget the track, race to the bed instead.
- Orgasms keep you from getting sick.
While experts debate over the effectiveness of flu shots, count on orgasms to boost your immune system. They've even found that certain hormones released during sex may have protective effects against heart disease.
- Orgasms help you live longer.
Dr. Daniel Amen puts it best by saying, “an orgasm a day keeps the coroner away.” Study after study continues to show that the more frequently you have orgasms the longer you live.
- Orgasms make you look better.
Sex brings oxygen into your body, gets your heart pumping and your blood moving. All this brings nutrients to your skin leaving it with a young healthy glow. I don't know of any cosmetic or surgical procedure that can work as well.
- One good orgasm leads to another.
By having orgasms you create never pathways that lead to and from your body to your brain. Like any well worn path, it's much easier to travel, so that orgasms get easier to produce. It is quite possible, then, to become multi-orgasmic with practice.
So whether it's by your own hand, a toy or your partner, there's not much better for your health than a good old-fashioned orgasm!
